MAY 22, 2003 (newstodate): Danish airport, Billund Airport is fighting to gain recognition from Danish politicians as an important cargo-dedicated airport.
In a draft paper intended to serve as part of the reference material for the Danish Parliament's decision on development of the Danish infrastructure, Copenhagen Airport is described as "the only international hub in Denmark with easy and frequent connections to international gateways, providing excellent potentials for express companies".
"There is, however, other Danish airports also not too bad in air cargo", the paper says.
-This is outrageous. Billund Airport is highly dedicated to air cargo, serves as an important hub for Maersk Air and other airlines, enjoys a high reputation in the international cargo community, provides prime services at most competitive levels, and is seeing a sound development despite the current deflation in air cargo hitting any air cargo party, says Jan Ditlevsen, Cargo Center Billund manager.
He has now taken action to secure a more balanced assessment of the Danish air cargo scene.
