APR 01, 2003 (newstodate): IFATCA, the Federation of Air Traffic Controllers Associations has released a statement to condemn the Swiss Senate's rejection of the bilateral agreement negotiated with Germany.
IFATCA experts express grave concerns about the consequences of the necessarily ensuing withdrawal of the delegated airspace.
-This re-allocation will entail serious organisational changes and reduced capacity in an area of Europes most complex and highest density airspaces. This will inevitably lead to financial damages to Airlines and Zurich Airport, as well as increased delays for passengers in Europe, says Marc Baumgartner, President and CEO of IFATCA.
The statement was agreed by the 42nd Annual IFATCA Conference in Buenos Aires, ending on March 21, 2003.
