APR 07, 2003 (newstodate): Following a management program, SAAB has extended the service life of the SAAB 340 aircraft from 45,000 to 60,000 flying hours.
This adds another seven to eight years of operational life to the aircraft, says SAAB in its recently published market report.
The SAAB 230 aircraft currently holding the highest number of cycles has accumulated 40,000 hours, so even this aircraft will gain another 10-15 years in its service life, says SAAB.
In total, the SAAB A340, which has just rounded its 20 years of service anniversary, has accumulated more than 10 million flights, SAAB says.
Among the operators of the aircraft in these regions are Carpat Air, four, Golden Air, 11, Moldavian Airlines, three, Nordic Airlines, one, Skyways, 11, Swedish Air Force, five, and Swedline, five aircraft.
