APR 04, 2003 (newstodate): The Czech Airports Authority has started maintenance and upgrading works on the Prague Ruzyne Airport's runways on Monday, 31 March 2003.
The airport will complete the surface repairs including new lighting systems without interrupting the air traffic within two months from the commencement of the first renovation work.
Renovation of the runways will be followed by other construction work, relating mainly to the new Terminal 2 North that should be completed by the end of 2005.
In the initial phase, the terminal will increase the processing capacity of the airport to 10 million passengers a year, also enabling processing of Schengen-passengers from the EU states.
