APR 11, 2003 (newstodate): Fledgling African cargo airline, ZIMBABWE Cargo Airlines remains without customers after two months since official start of operations.
Accordiong to press reports, the airline has leased a Boeing 707 from a South African airline, and has also engaged in a leasing arrangement for a Belgian DC10-30.
The Boeing 707, which has a capacity of 35 tonnes of cargo, was meant to service the regional routes while the DC10, which can carry up to 65 tonnes of cargo, would service the European market, including up to three flights between Harare and Amsterdam.
The airline is also believed to hold option for a Boeing 747 with a cargo capacity of 90 tonnes to service the European market once warranted by demands for its services.
