APR 01, 2003 (newstodate)The Japanese government has sponsored 160 10-person tents, delivered to UNHCR in Jordan.
The shipment was taken by two Boeing 747 freighters from the Japanese Self-Defence Air Force, landing in Jordan's Queen Alia International airport on March 31.
UNHCR plans to send part of the Japanese contribution to its forward stockpile in eastern Jordan. The remaining tents will be stored outside Amman in UNHCR's regional stockpile, from where they can be distributed to border sites in the region to shelter any refugees.
