APR 07, 2003 (newstodate): On April 2, China's minister of Aviation and Iceland's minister of foreign affairs signed an Air Service Agreement.
The agreement was finalized in Beijing November 26th. It allows designated airlines in both countries to transport passengers, baggage, freight and mail between Iceland and China on scheduled flights.
Under the agreement each country can designate three airports, plus three others for intermediate landings.
The agreement with China is Iceland's 14th air service agreement, but Icelandic airlines also have rights in other countries through the EES-agreement, and through the Valdez-agreement as regards Switzerland.
Iceland has requested talks with 24 other countries for Air Service Agreements, including Croatia, Oman, Cuba, Israel, Chile, Mexico, Malaysia, Vietnam, Peru,
Brazil, Argentina, New Zeeland, Australia, Morocco, Cameroon, Turkey, India, Senegal, The United Arabic Emerates, Saudi Arabia, Mongolia,
Tunisia, Bahrain and Egypt.
