APR 30, 2003 (newstodate): Finnair refutes press rumours about being interested in acquiring shares in Estonian Airlines.
-Finnair has a strong interest in the Baltic countries, which will gain further importance after their admission into the EU one year from now. However, Finnair's Baltic strategy builds on its subsidiary, Aero, rather than buying into other airlines, says Christer Haglund, Finnair VP Corporate Communications.
Haglund says Aero that has now only one ATR-72 on a route between Tallinn and Helsinki will add more aircraft to its fleet "within one year", and the increased capacity will be used for expanding its penetration in the Baltic market, to feed traffic into Finnair's traffic system at Helsinki.
