MAR 02, 2003 (newstodate): Taiwan saw its air cargo volume up 16 percent in 2002, to 1.38 million tonnes, Taiwan's Ministry of Transportation & Communication says in a release.
In 2002, exports, up 12.9 percent, totalled 623,800 tonnes, imports, up 6.25 percent, accrued to 425,100 tonnes, while transfer cargo, up 39.7 percent, totalled 331,800 tonnes.
A large proportion of transfer air cargo is transported by sea from mainland China to be exported by air from Taiwan.
