MAR 05, 2003 (newstodate): KLM Cargo is seeing its load factor down by 1.9 percent, to 73.5 as the growth in capacity, up six percent, was stronger than the growth in traffic, up four percent.
Traffic on the Asia/Pacific routes was up only two percent, while the North Atlantic traffic increased by 10 percent, and the capacity was up 11 percent.
The growth in North Atlantic figures was mainly due to a shift from Northwest to KLM flights within the joint venture between the airlines. Also the replacement of two Boeing 747-200 freighters by two Boeing 747-400 freighters adds to the capacity offered in the market.
KLM says in a statement that outbound traffic from Europe remains "under pressure".
