MAR 03, 2003 (newstodate): Atlas Air is seeing the ACMI-market "still depressed", while military charter demand has continued into Q1, 2003, maintaining the Atlas Air fleet at "near capacity operation", the company says in a statement on Q4, 2002, operating results.
Atlas Air has begun negotiation with some of its aircraft lessors to reduce or defer lease payments relating to five Boeing 747-200 aircraft, and the company is returning one Boeing 747-200 to its lessor.
Atlas Air and Boeing have also agreed to delay the delivery of one Boeing 747-400 freighter, originally slated for delivery in October 2003, till September 2006.
The company has no obligations or commitments with respect to additional aircraft deliveries beyond this aircraft, Atlas Air says.
