MAR 20, 2003 (newstodate) Falling volumes in flights over Arctica 1 during February does not reflect lack of support of the new airlane, says BA.
BA has consistently been a strong supporter of the new flight routes which signicantly reduce flying time on routes between Europe and the Northern part of the Far East, notably Japan. But in February, BA approximately halved its flights on Arctica 1.
-This was due to a combination of adverse winds, and a decrease in commercial demand leading the airline to cancel flights, consolidating instead passengers on one flight instead of maintaining two flights, says a BA spokesman.
