MAR 18, 2003 (newstodate): The current preparations for a war in Iraq has drained the market for available AN-124 capacity.
-The AN-124 is the prime aircraft type for moving masive troop contingents and equipment, and as there are only three companies offering this capacity, excluding the Libyan provider that is probably not considered a viable alternative for Western military uplift, there will most likely be no AN-124 capacity available over the next weeks or so, says an aircraft broker industry source.
He said aircraft brokers are currently responding to a preliminary tender by UNHCR and IOM concerning mass evacuation of migrant workers in Kuwait and adjoining states to their homelands in case of a war situation emerging.
