MAR 31, 2003 (newstodate): ACI, Airports Council International has issued a statement calling for support to Europe's airports and airlines from European states and EU bodies.
-Europe's airports and airlines urge the EU, Member States and other European governments to absorb the direct and indirect costs resulting from enhanced anti-terrorist security measures reinforced in the wake of a war or terrorist attack,
-request European governments, EU bodies and industry to establish a multidisciplinary
working group to lead/coordinate the overall activities and policies regarding anti-terrorist security within the EU in order to improve communication and avoid duplication of efforts; and
-call on the European Commission to take decisive action on third-party war and terrorism insurance, allowing European governments immediately to step in until a viable, long-term solution to the insurance crisis can be established.
