FEB 16, 2003 (newstodate): According to Emery Forwarding, the United States Civil Reserve Air Fleet (CRAF) has activated 47 passenger aircraft on a Stage I basis.
Stage I is the lowest activation level. Stage II, which can be used for regional contingencies, was the highest level used in Desert Shield/Storm.
With very few exceptions, extra (parked) commercial aircraft are being used, and Emery Forwartding does not expect any impact on North American passenger or cargo operations or capacity.
