FEB 17, 2003 (newstodate): Specialised Danish freight forwarding company, Mah Freight is currently sending relief supplies and equipment for Afghanistan on a chartered IL-76 from Billund Airport.
-The operation is a consolidation of shipments from North European relief organizations and governments, and one bi-weekly flight is currently being scheduled over the next few weeks, says Jorgen Jessen, Mah Freight.
According to Jessen, Mahe has operated more than 150 Afghan relief charter flights since the start of the campaign in 2001.
-The pace is visibly down now, as the infrastructure in and around Afghanistan has entered the reconstruction phase, allowing for more use of scheduled services rather than the more expensive charter operations, says Jessen.
