FEB 17, 2003 (newstodate): Avialeasing is expanding its scope of ground handling activities in Central Asia, now providing services at 39 airports in the region.
Since November, 2002, Avialeasing has provided ground handling and refuelling services for Atlas Air at Tashkent Airport.
Atlas Air currently has up to nine flights per week on behalf of China Southern, with technical stops at Tashkent on the Europe-Asia flights.
Avialeasing also provides ramp and cargo handling for Atlas Air and Evergreen International Airlines at Manas Airport, Kyrgyzstan.
According to an Avialeasing spokeswoman, Avialeasing is eyeing an important role for Tashkent Airport for technical stops by carriers, which may be forced to re-route their flights in case of a deepening crisis, or even war, in Iraq.
