DEC 11, 2003 (newstodate): West Air Sweden's subsidiary in Luxembourg has today received its AOC from Luxembourg's civil aviation authority.
-Following on the AOC, we will receive our first Luxembourg-registered aircraft, an ATP freighter, on December 17 after which we will be ready to operate as a fully independent airline, says Peter Koster, West Air Sweden - Luxembourg managing director.
Koster says he expects the airline to add two more ATP freighters in 2004, probably increasing by another two aircraft i 2005, depending on the market situation.
-Luxembourg is an ideal location for us, enabling us to serve a catchment area comprising the Benelux countries and important parts of Germany and France all within only few hours of trucking times, Koster says.
Besides the new and fully fledged airline in Luxembourg, the mother company West Air Sweden services Northern Europe, including the Baltic states, while Southern Europe and France is serviced through West Air Sweden's French subsidiary, acquired in July, 2002.
