DEC 08, 2003 (newstodate): The issue of a new freighter route to fly Norwegian salmon exports from Kallax Airport to Japan has set the Norwegian market in motion.
According to one source in the Norwegian industry, the story carried this weekend by newstodate was mistaken as one Asian carrier's recent survey in the norwegian market had proved that there is no demand for the proposed service.
But an authoritative Swedish industry source maintains that negotiations are indeed closing in on a freighter route from Kallax with fresh Norwegian salmon to Japan.
-No wonder that those now dominating the lucrative business seeks to undermine efforts to introduce new alternatives, the source says.
The source claims that issues of traffic rights and other operational and commercial details are in the process of being solved, warranting a start-up of the proposed service early in 2004 driven by a yet undisclosed group of major forwarders.
