DEC 12, 2003 (newstodate): Fligts over the North Atlantic have still not recovered fully after Sept 11 and the industrial crisis that followed.
Latest statistics from National Air Traffic Services, the UK's principle air traffic service provider, show that despite a continuing rise in the number of flights using UK airspace, the North Atlantic market is still down.
Operational statistics for November show that although flight numbers reached record levels for the seventh month in a row - up 2.6 per cent on 2002 - the majority of these movements were short haul services.
The number of intercontinental overflights in UK airspace has still to recover to pre-September 2001 levels. Last month they were down 8.1 per cent on November 2000.
