DEC 22, 2003 (newstodate): Before the end of the year, new Icelandic budget airline with routes to the UK and Denmark, Iceland Express will sign a contract with the Icelandic Post Office.
-The contract will cover all Icelandic Post's mail from Iceland to Denmark, totalling some 600 kg per day, says Svar Palsson, Iceland Express Cargo Manager.
For years, the contract has been with Icelandair Cargo, so Iceland Express considers the agreement to be a major break-through in the market after only one year of operation.
-Many prospective customers have been reluctant to sign up with Iceland Express until be have been able to prove a serious, long-term and reliable provider. With this contract I am convinced that we are heading towards a strong development in the air cargo business in 2004, says Svar Palsson.
Iceland Express will take in a second Boeing 737-300 aircraft from April 1, 2004, enabling the airline to double its currently daily flights to London and Copenhagen from the new summer schedule.
