DEC 22, 2003 (newstodate): Emirates SkyCargo has announced plans for a new comprehensive logistics IT system, slated for roll-out by the end of 2005.
The system, designed to cope with the company's fast growing business, will serve as an extention to the manufacturer's supply chain, deploying barcoding and embedded chip technology using RFID and GPS technologies for tracking equipment and shipments, providing customers with real-time information.
The system will comprise a plethora of modules comprising, besides the end-to-end logistics, all facilities for reservations, bookings, flight management, track/trace and other issues comprised by existing industry systems.
