NOV 25, 2003 (newstodate): Russian airline UTair Aviation has added a new MI-26 helicopter for use by UN.
The new aircraft, deployed to Monrovia for use by the United Nations organizations, is now providing transport services to the UN peacekeeping mission in Liberia. The contract for the MI-6 helicopter was signed, based on the results of a UN tender.
UTair operates a total of 20 Mi-26 helicopters, mainly used in Russia to transport and install heavy equipment for oil and gas companies.
But six MI-26 are used by UN organisations in various programs.
With 310 aircraft including 184 helicopters, UTair is among the world's largest helicopter operators.
