NOV 13, 2003 (newstodate): According to industry sources, Aeroflot's plans for a freighter route to connect Helsinki and Moscow have been postponed due to issues of traffic rights.
-It is certainly bad news as there is definitely a strong demand in the market for this freighter service, says Petri Pikkarainen, Wilson Logistics Finland airfreight manager.
-There are airfreight trucking routes from Helsinki to Moscow, but many items cannot easily cross the border to Russia because of procedures on the Russian side. So air transportation would be much preferred, he says.
According to Mr Pikkarainen, several Finnish companies already arrange own cargo charter flights to Moscow to remedy the situation.
