NOV 12, 2003 (newstodate): Effective from November 20, Emirates SkyCargo will add a second weekly frequency on their freighter route Dubai-New York via Gothenburg.
Emirates first launched the Boeing 747-400F freighter route via Gothenburg on September 13, flying on Sundays, while the new frequency will operate on Thursdays.
-We expect a better position in the market with two, rather than only one frequency, says Hieran Perera, Emirates SkyCargo manager cargo & capacity development.
According to Mr Perera, ex-Gothenburg loads to Dubai have not been "too stable", but considering the sustained global economic down-turn the Scandinavian contribution to the route has still performed better than budgetted.
Mr Perera says Emirates' ex-Scandinavia shipments are primarily destined for the Middle East markets, with relatively little being transferred to other flights.
