NJOV 03, 2003 (newstodate): China Airlines' cargo performance has sustained a strong growth during the first nine months of this year, despite set-backs due to the SARS and other global events.
Thus, cargo revenues were up by 7.9 percent to NT 24.7 billion, contributing 46 percent of the airline's total nine-months revenues.
By comparison, passenger revenues were down by 21 percent, to NT 25.6 billion during the period.
China Airlines now ranks as the world's No 7 in international cargo traffic volumes.
In the second half of 2003, the airline has received three Boeing 747-400F freighters, and phased out two Boeing 747-200F.
According to China Airlines, new longhaul cargo routes are currently being planned for launch during the last quarter of this year.
