NOV 07, 2003 (newstodate): Azzurra Air of Italy has signed a leasing contract with GECAS for five Airbus A320-200 aircraft to be delivered from March 2004.
In a GECAS press release, Azzurra Air announces a major route expansion by next year in response to the enlargement of the EU by the entry of 10 new member states.
No details are yet available on which new member states Azzurra Air plans to serve out of the main hub at Bergamo, Italy.
Azzurra Air currently leases two Boeing 737-700 aircraft from GECAS, but these will be rteturned for redelivery to another customer upon delivery of the new Airbus aircraft, GECAS says.
