NOV 14, 2003 (newstodate): Emirates SkyCargo's second freighter from November 20 on the route Dubai-New York through Swedish airport Gothenburg will also add Finnair Cargo's capacity in the market.
Finnair Cargo confirms that its original agreement with Emirates for a fixed allotment on the flights extends to the second frequency as well.
According to sources in the market, Finnair Cargo's takes 50 percent of the capacity on the Gothenburg-New York flight, but this is not confirmed by the airline.
In addition, Emirates SkyCargo's GSA in Scandinavia, ScanPartners, is also selling capacity on the eastbound freighter, albeit so far on ad-hoc basis only.
-We have seen good sales results on the Sunday flight from Gothenburg to Dubai and beyond, although volumes have vacillated over time, says Bo Seidelin, ScanPartners managing director.
According to Seidelin, addition of the second frequency on Thursday will boost the development significantly.
-Customers will gain confidence in the service when it offers a firm back-up through the second frequency, he says.
