OCT 16, 2003 (newstodate): SWISS International Air Lines has taken in a further two Airbus A340-300 aircraft to be deployed on routes to Bangkok, Singapore, Tel Aviv from October, and to Tokyo from November.
The airline introduced its first Airbus A340-300 in July, and this aircraft has since been operated on routes from Zurich to Dubai-Muscat and Dubai-Karachi.
With the introduction of the new aircraft, frequencies will now be upped from one to four flights per week on on these routes.
Bu June 2004, all long-haul intercontinental routes will be operated with the A340-300 fleet totalling of nine aircraft, replacing the existing fleet of MD-11 aircraft.
With the Airbus A340-300, Swiss WorldCargo will be able to offer an average of five tons and three cubic metres of additional cargo payload for routes of over 5000 miles, compared to the MD-11 operations.
