OCT 08, 2003 (newstodate): Under the new brand name "Trust", SAS cargo is re-launching its forwarding services, till now named "SAS Spedition".
-SAS Spedition, with 60 employees, offices at Stockholm, Oslo, Copenhagen and Gothenburg airport, and an anual turnover at SEK 180 million, has traditionally restrained itself to offering forwarding services to individuals and small companies with no own preferences as to forwarding companies, says Michael Thomasen, Trust general manager.
Thomasen says these segments will remain at the basis of Trust, but in addition the company serves customers in a wide range of small, but profitable niches requiring fast, customised and efficient solutions to their transportation needs.
-In niches such as forwarding of urgently-needed medicines to hospitals and clinics, transportation of stem cells from newborn babies to stem cell centers, live animals for private collectors, newspapers and magazines, there is a high demand on fast and reliable logistics around the individual shipments, while volumes are low. Together, these niches constitute a significant part of our main scope of business, Thomasen says.
Trust has thus launched its new product, 1st Flight, to cater to the needs of customers in these segments.
-We cover all major cities in Europe served by SAS, but fly on other airlines as well, as dictated by the nature of each specific shipments, Thomasen says.
Trust will also keep a close eye to the markets in East Europe as customers are already requesting services at a number of new destinations here.
