OCT 15, 2003 (newstodate): First aircraft to land on the re-opened Nis Konstantin Veliki Airport was a JAT Boeing 737-300.
The airport, closed down for years after a NATO air strike during the civil war, has been reconstructed after investments from Norway of four million euro, and the city of Nis investing a further 30 million dinars.
The full reconstruction program will be completed by the end of this year, making Nis Airport a strong regional airport and an alternative airport for international flights through the region's airspace.
