OCT 17, 2003 (newstodate): Icelandair Cargo plans to add its second Boeing 757-200PF freighter by the end of October.
-This will enable us to expand our network to the US with a new route to Boston and the seventh weekly flight to Liege in Belgium, says Petur J Eiriksson, Icelandair Cargo general manager and CEO.
The new aircraft will initially be used for scheduled flights on weekends but will be available for charter work on most weekdays also.
The company's first Boeing 757 freighter joined the Icelandair all 757/767 fleet in 1999, and has since proved to be a very reliable and efficient workhorse. The annual utilization is around 4.000 hours, and the aircraft's capacity is up to 39 tons on 15 pallet positions.
Icelandair Cargo also operates one B737-300 freighter for TNT.
