OCT 08, 2003 (newstodate): Reasons for sustained cautious optimism seem to be warranted by the latest statistics from IATA on the international airfreight market in August.
-In the international freight market, the overall traffic increased 3.6 percent in August, as compared to August 2002, an IATA release says.
-With growth slowing slightly in most regions, the year-to-date growth rate reached 6 percent, as compared to 6.4 percent reported in July. The Middle East region growth rate ranked highest at 15.2 percent, followed by Africa at 10.4 percent, and North America at 9 percent.
