OCT 01, 2003 (newstodate): In September, Danish regional airport Billund Airport saw its cargo volumes up after a prolonged period of negative trends.
The airport's total volumes were up 9.7 percent over last year, to 3,918 tonnes, comprising imports up 8.3 and exports up 10.8 percent.
For the period January-September, the airport's total volumes remain in the red by 9.4 percent, to 29,051 tonnes, marked by a decline at 18 percent in exports, notably due to the shortfall of former IL-76 operations now banned from EU airspace, and UPS' decision to move its traffic to Malmoe and Aarhus instead.
