OCT 07, 2003 (newstodate): In October, Kazakhstan carrier, Air-Astana plans to add one Boeing 757-200 aircraft, with one more to follow in December.
-We will be expanding our route network with the B757s from Almaty to Atyrau, Uralsk, Bangkok, Seoul, Amsterdam via Atyrau, Amsterdam via Uralsk, London, Frankfurt via Astana, Hanover via Astana, and Budapeset via Atyrau, says Lloyd Paxton, Air-Astana president.
The new aircraft are understood to be on a lease arrangement with IFLC as are the two Boeing 737-700 and one Boeing 737-800 aircraft already in the fleet.
-We currently operate domestic routes from Almaty to Astana, Aktau and Aktobe, and our international routes include two weekly flights from Almaty to Dubai, seven flights weekly to Moscow, three weekly flights from Astana to Moscow, and two weekly flights to Beijing, Paxton says.
According to Paxton, Air-Astana is today relatively weak in air cargo due to limited Boeing 737 cargo uplift, but the inclusion of the new Boeing 757 aircraft is expected to boost the airline's cargo business.
