Copenhagen, jan 23, 2003 (Newstodate): Swiss WorldCargo is fighting for its market after the downsizing of capacity by the introduction of EMB-146 instead of Avro aircraft from the current winter traffic program.
-As the EMB-146 takes only 3-400 kg of air cargo on our six daily flights out of Copenhagen to Basle and Zurich, respectively, we have stressed instead our 24-hours trucking services, says Gitte Kjaerluff, Swiss WorldCargo manager Denmark and Norway.
Kjaerulff says this also means that Swiss AirCargo is now targetting the market for general cargo rather than the more sophisticated, high-value products.
Together with Swiss' passenger departments in Denmark, the cargo company is hoping for a return, hopefully from this summer, of the more cargo-friendly Avro on at least some of the six daily flights.
The Avro takes 1,200-1,500 kg of cargo, thus allowing for a share of the more revenue-yielding cargo markets, including express and medico shipments.
