Copenhagen, JAN 16, 2003 (newstodate): Finn Oelund, Air Greenland CEO, has announced his decision to step down by October 31, 2003.
Oelund has been in his current position since September 2000.
-After Air Greenland's take-over of the routes between Greenland and Denmark including the recent implementation in November 2002 of Airbus A330-200, only one major task remains which is a restructuring of Greenland's domestic air traffic system, says Oelund.
-This last issue will, however, require a very prolonged period as it depends on the transition on the domestic route network from helicopter to fixed-wing aircraft operations, which is also a very demanding financial decision. I have decided not to commit myself to staying through this process, Oelund says.
According to Oelund, Air Greenland is tight on budget as to passenger and freight traffic volumes after the airline's take-over as sole provider of air transportation to and from Greenland.
