Copenhagen, JAN 22, 2003 (newstodate): Polish Baltic airport, Gda�sk-Tr�jmiasto plans to open new air cargo facilities by 2004.
The airport exceeded its planned maximum capacity at 2,000 tonnes in 2002, necessitating construction of a new air cargo terminal. Preparations and preliminary work startedin 2000.
After completion of the new facilities, the oldcargo terminal will be adapted to serve as a distributioncentre for courier and freight forwarding companies withbusiness in the Pomeranian region.
In 2002, international export accrued to 734.5 tonnes, while international imports were 1.024 tonnes. Adding domestic airfreight, total cargo volumes were 2,211 tonnes, compared to 1,954 tonnes in 2001.
