Copenhagen, JAN 24, 2003 (newstodate): GAC Logistics has established a representative office in Sao Paulo, Brazil, as part of the company's long-term globalisation strategy.
The new office will connect Latin America-based exporters to the Middle East, Asia Pacific, and Scandinavia. At the same time, it provides importers direct access to fast growing markets in Argentina, Mexico, Panama, Brazil, Chile and Columbia, which account for more than 50 per cent of Latin America total exports.
October 1, 2002, GAC Logistics entered the Scandinavian markets by setting up own offices in Gothenburg, Stockholm, Helsingborg, and Copenhagen, initially taking in traffic that was already controlled by GAC outside Scandinavia.
-On a medium to long-term horizon, GAC is working to become a major player in the Scandinavian forwarding and logistics market, and we have started out by offering traditional air- and seafreight forwarding consolidation services, gradually adding the GAC Groups wide range of logistics services, says Gunnar Lundgren, GAC Logistics global business development manager, based at Bahrain.
According to Lundgren, GAC plans to add South Africa in 2003, setting up offices at Johannesburg, Durban, and Cape Town before summer.
