Copenhagen, Jan 21, 2003 (newstodate): April 17 has now been set as the date for start of operations on Stockholm Arlanda's 3rd runway.
Technically, the new 2,500 m runway and taxiways, built at an investment of 1.5 billion Swedish Kroner, have been ready for one year, but operational use had to be postponed due to a adjustment of flight patterns and noise footprints requiring new environmental permits.
With the new runway the airport's capacity will be increased from currently 76 to 90 movements per hour, also rendering the airport less susceptible to adverse weather conditions.
