Copenhagen, JAN 28, 2003 (newstodate): on January 27, Ukrainian carrier Aerosvit opened its office in New York in preparation for the inauguration of its Kiev-New York route from March 30.
Initially, the route will be served twice weekly, with a third frequency to be added from June 27, and a fourth during the period mid-Junly till mid-September.
The route will be operated with the company's ex-SAS dry-leased Boeing 767-300, and the airline plans to add a second Boeing 676 from this year.
The fleet further comprises six Boeing 737 aircraft.
In 2002, the company opened three internal and eight new international routes to destinations in the Southern and Eastern Asia, Southern, Eastern, and Northern Europe, the Arabic peninsula and the Russian Federation.
The total number of passengers transported in 2002 was 437,000, up 38,2% against 2001.
On the airline's new route to Bangkok, 60 percent of the passengers are fetched in Europe and the Middle East, transferring at Kiev Airport.
