Apr 20, 2018 (newstodate): Since yesterday, Swissport Cargo Services is operating at two premises at Finland's Helsinki Airport.
The new location added to Swissport Cargo at Helsinki is housed in part of the former Finnair Cargo terminal, next to the ASR Cargo Center that started operations on March 1, 2018.
-While dedicating our first Swissport Cargo terminal at Helsinki Airport to exports, the new location will provide handling of import shipments and both facilities will be handling flown and trucked cargo as well, says Tommi Voss, Swissport Finland Director Cargo.
-We have seen cargo volumes increasing steadily over the last 18 months, so the capacity of the original terminal became insufficient to manage the growth.
-We are operating the two locations quite flexibly and they are not too far from each other, so we can easily shift resources from one to the other. In the future it may again become more convenient to have all activities under one roof, but for the foreseeable future this is indeed a very good solution for us and our customers, says Mr Voss.
The customer portfolio of Swissport Finland Cargo includes Japan Airlines, Lufthansa, Turkish Cargo, Qatar Airways, AF/KLM, SAS Cargo, Cargolux, Singapore Airlines Cargo and Emirates.
While operations are now in full swing, the official opening of the new Swissport cargo facility at Helsinki Airport will take place only after an initial phase proving that all procedures and details are in place.
