Mar 20, 2018 (newstodate): Iran may have overcome a major obstacle to the realization of the large aircraft orders placed with Airbus and Boeing in 2016.
The problem has been funding of the contracts after Iran Air had to pay in full prior to delivery of the three Airbus aircraft delivered.
According to the newspaper Iran, Iran Air has landed a firm agreement with a Chinese investor to support the contracts with Airbus and Boeing, removing the snags currently blocking the deliveries.
Iran Air now expects to take delivery of the next ex-factory aircraft from Airbus in June 2018, with Boeing deliveries to start also from May 2018.
