Aug 11, 2017 (newstodate): In sharp contrast to reports on passenger traffic, little is heard from Denmark's Copenhagen Airport when it comes to air cargo.
The latest statistical figures date back to March 2017 when the airport announced full-year cargo volumes in 2016 at 423,042 tonnes of cargo, an increase by 13.5 percent, y-o-y.
-Copenhagen Airport is currently working on its future Cargo Strategy as cargo is an important enabler for the airport's future growth, contributing significantly to the profitability on long haul routes, Marianna Juul, Copenhagen Airport Cargo Manager, told newstodate back then.
Sinced then, silence has reigned.
-We are now in the final phase of formulating Copenhagen Airport's future air cargo strategy that will hopefully be approved in September 2017, says Morten Mortensen, Copenhagen Airport Director of Airline Sales & Route Development.
-Suffice it to say at this moment, that the airport's total volumes in the first six months of this year show a modest increase by slightly less than two percent, compared to the same period in 2016, says Mr Mortensen.
As the airport published no H1 cargo figures for 2016, it remains unclear whether the airport is actually in a positive or negative growth trend as to cargo volumes, seen over a longer period.
