Dec 08, 2016 (newstodate): The French-Luxembourg-based aviation asset company Vallair is constantly monitoring the Boeing 737 market for aircraft suitable for cargo conversion
Several carriers are requesting converted freighters, especially the Boeing 737-400SF with larger capacity than the -300 version, but demand is outweighing the supply.
-Yes, we are always looking for aircraft for potential customers, including also West Atlantic, but the market is not so easy. Especially finding technically reliable aircraft in this segment is getting more and more difficult, says Peter Koster, Vallair Business Development Director since September 2016.
-Only this month, Vallair has taken delivery of one Boeing 737-400SF converted freighter from Pemco, and this aircraft is now heading for Rio, in Brazil, to be placed with Sideral, says Mr Koster.
In October 2016, West Atlantic won the British Royal Mail tender which will require the airline to add six more Boeing 737 converted freighter aircraft to its fleet as the contract takes effect from January 1, 2017.
Under the five-year contract, the carrier will allocate nine Boeing 737 and three British Aerospace ATP aircraft to serving flights on Royal Mail's postal air services.
