Sep 22, 2016 (newstodate): New in the air is the Danish helicopter company KN Helicopters, based at Esbjerg, on western Denmark's North Sea coast.
In the fleet now is one EC135 helicopter, while the company's second aircraft, an AW139 will be added to the operation and the company's AOC by the start of October 2016.
-We are a young company set up in April 2016, but building on extensive careers in the helicopter industry - in my case starting in 1996, says Niels Peter Kjeldahl, KN Helicopters Accountable Manager.
-Our prime business target is serving the off-shore industries and, notably, the off-shore wind turbine fields in operation and being built in the North Sea. But we are also aiming at offering executive and VIP flight services as well as transportation of smaller cargo shipments fitting into our aircraft.
-We are primarily serving Danish customers, but our activities are also serving other relevant North Sea markets, including the UK, Norway, Holland, Belgium and Germany, primarily on ad-hoc jobs.
-So far, our business is evenly split between projects on fixed contracts and ad-hoc assignments. The current over-capacity of helicopters make off-shore customers favor ad-hoc or short-term contracts, rather than long-term commitments, but we are of course eager to build longer-term relations with customers allowing us to optimize the utilization of our aircraft.
-Competition is stiff, and serious competitors are all measured on the same parameters - safety, quality and price. As a new company in the business with 12 employees were are keen to build a firm reputation to grow our activities, but we aim at growing organically in tune with the market. Which means slowly and steadily, says Mr Kjeldahl.
