Sep 20, 2016 (newstodate): Turkish Airlines is revising its plans for the the coming winter schedule in the light of dampened demand for flights to Turkey in the aftermath of the recent coup.
This has an effect also on the carrier's operations in Denmark where new flights to Danish airports at Aalborg and Billund were launched in 2012.
Turkish Airlines has thus decided to suspend operations between Istanbul and Aalborg by the start of this winter schedule from October 30, 2016, while it remains to be seen if traffic will be resumed with the start of the summer schedule starting from March 25, 2017.
So far, Turkish Airlines will however continue its operations on the route between Istanbul and Billund, currently served with five weekly rotations.
The carrier's flights to Aalborg and Billund were launched in June 2012 with three flights on the routing Istanbul-Aalborg-Billund-Istanbul, going up to five weekly rotations from spring 2014 and extended to daily flights from June 28, 2015.
From the start of this year's summer schedule, the triangular flights were replaced by direct flights between Istanbul and the two Danish destinations.
