Jun 24, 2016 (newstodate): A difficult Q1, improvements in Q2, and a return to growth after a difficult year: West Atlantic's CEO remains optimistic of this company's future.
-We have been in business for more than 30 years now, and I am convinced that we are now on the right path again after a difficult period and ongoing efforts to adjust the organization to match today's environment, says Frederik Groth, West Atlantic CEO since February 29, 2016, when he was first named interim CEO replacing Gustaf Thureborn, CEO and President and in an executive position with the company since 1995.
-In the fleet now are three Boeing 767-200F aircraft, serving with TNT, and we have no plans for adding more of this type in 2016. After all, the market for Boeing 767 freighters is limited, with only relatively few customers. We do intend to grow, but not in 2016.
-Market demand for Boeing 737 freighter capacity is better and increasing, and we plan to add one more Boeing 737-400SF to the current fleet comprising 11 of these aircraft including five Boeing 737-400SF and six Boeing 737-300SF.
-As for our turboprop freighters, some of our aircraft will be cannibalized, but the rest of the aircraft will remain with us, awaiting growth in this market to return. Our customers for these aircraft include Norwegian Post, TNT, UPS, TNT and Royal Mail, and we expect this business that is basically rather constant to grow again.
