Jun 23, 2016 (newstodate): Without prior warning, the Estonian carrier Nordica has its last day today with Erik Sakkov, as COO.
-Ive given everything I have to give. We have laid strong foundations for Nordica, and things can only get better from this point, Mr Sakkov says in a statement on the carrier's website.
The management board will carry on with two members, the current chairman Jaan Tamm and the carrier's finance manager Ahto Parl.
Before joining Nordica, Mr Sakkov served as Tallinn Airport COO from 2009.
Estonian Air folded its wings in September 2015 faced with a negative outcome from the EU investigation into substantial state aid that would require the airline to pay back the illegal means to the state.
In the meantime, and foreseeing the outcome, Estonia set up a new company, Nordica, to take over the provision of the country's air connectivity, and thus continuing to aid its airline industry under new conditions with state investments.
Nordica, earlier named Nordic Aviation, performed its first flight on November 8, 2015, with aircraft operated by Adria Airways in cooperation with BMI, Trade Air, NextJet and Carpatair.
