Ju7l 30, 2015 (newstodate): Since July 1, 2014, all three international airport of Lithuania have been operating as one single juridical entity, State Enterprise Lithuanian Airports. And results from the first year are promising.
The performance of the Lithuanian Airports have grown 11 percent over the first year of joint operation, and after the merger the air gateways of Vilnius, Kaunas and Palanga have experienced an increase in passenger and flight volumes, sales volumes, EBITDA and net profits.
During the first five months of 2015, sales of aviation and non-aviation services of Lithuanian Airports grew 13 percent, y-o-y, profit soared by 65 percent, y-o-y, and the EBITDA margin rose to 33%, up by two percent, y-o-y.
These improved economic factor contribute the air company's ability to invest in further improvements in infrastructure and quality, raising the company's attractiveness ahead of a planned tender calling for new investors to step in under a future concession contract that may be landed already in 2016.
17 airlines currently operate at Lithuanian airports, offering flights to 60 destinations.
In 2015 the country's three airports are expected to handle over 3.8 million passengers.
1.9 million passengers already traveled through Lithuanian airports during the first six months of 2015.
